For the students with Science background has so many options to choose other than just Medicine and Engineering. A privilege science students have that they are eligible for many non-science courses as well along with almost all science courses. 

Courses for Students with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) subjects are:


Pursuing Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is one of the first options to opt for students with PCB subjects. It is the basic degree to become an allopathic doctor. The total duration of the course is 5 and a half years. MBBS followed by PG course helps to build a rewarding career.


Bachelor of Dental Surgery is the second option students with PCB background to choose as a carrier option after MBBS. The total duration of the course is 5 years. Getting admission in BDS course is quite easy than MBBS. BDS career prospects are bit dim in comparison to MBBS but a student can build a good career by pursuing BDS with PG course.


Want to be an Ayurvedic Doctor B.A.M.S. (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is the course a student can pursue with. The course duration is 5 and a half years. As for now, Ayurvedic treatment is on rising with a lack of side effects. Thus, job opportunities in this field will certainly increase with a span of time. 


Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery deals with Homeopathic medicines and procedures in detail. Duration of the course is 5 and a half years. There are still plenty of people who believe in homeopathic treatment and medication. So, finding a job will not be a problem for BHMS graduates.

B. Pharmacy

Pharmacy sector revolves around Medicines. Making of Medicines, Chemicals involved in making of medicines, uses of Medicines, etc, such topics are taught in B. Pharmacy degree. The course is 4 years long. One must go for M. Pharma after completing B. Pharma. If talk about job opportunities then Pharmaceutical Companies are the prime job providers. Government sector jobs are also available. Pharmacy graduates also have an opportunity to work in research and teaching sector. 

Pharma. D

Pharma. D course is a mixture of B. Pharma, M. Pharma, and MBBS. It has got elements of all the courses said above. The course is bit long, total duration is of 6 years long. From the career aspect of the course, there is an excellent job opportunity for the graduates in western countries as the degree are more valuable abroad than in the home country. 

B.Sc Nursing

B.Sc Nursing is 3 years long and can be followed by M.Sc Degree. Ample amount of jobs are available in private as well as in Government Sector. Qualified nurses are well valued and rewarded well for their service.


Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery is a five 5.5 years of course. The degree covers medical knowledge of Unani System. After completing degree students become Doctor (Hakim) in the Unani Medical field.

Joining Defence services is a good option for students with PCM. There is an entrance exam called NDA (National Defense Academy) exam that students need to clear in order to get into SSB Interview. On passing SSB interview students undergoes military training and studies in NDA and IMA after which they are posted as an officer in defense services of the nation.

B.Sc Courses

Other than Engineering courses there are B.Sc courses that Science (PCM) students may choose to pursue their career in. The course duration is 3 years and one may also go for PG course M.Sc after B.Sc.
